Cecil-Illustration

Digital Painting of Cecil, the model from the cover of Non-no (A Japanese Magazine). I actually tried drawing her on photoshop with the magazine in my hand, but the second time I looked at it, all her proportions and colours were off, so I went searching for a digital image of the cover.

I struggled with getting her angle, her face shape and her eyes just right. Her face is slightly angled, her body facing more to her right and her head shifted slightly, so it was hard to get it without making her look completely straight on. I had to consistently match up her chin by working with photoshop rulers. Her eyes are very unique (as all Eurasians are)- inbetween almond and round, so getting the shape took a lot of tries.

Colouring Cecil was a lot of fun- playing with different brushes, including one I made myself to blend in different hues, and learning more about her shadows and where light hits her face.
